About me

I’m a junior at UNC studying dramatic arts. I enjoy writing a lot and plan to pursue screenwriting. This site is just for fun. But the takes are for real. I hope you enjoy it!

How I do my reviews

There are five parts to my reviews: The text, the overall rating, the craft factor, the fun factor, and finally whether or not I recommend it. I rate movies on a scale from one to ten. One being absolutely terrible, ten being completely incredible. I rate holistically so I consider as many aspects of the movie as I can when coming up with a number (i.e. writing, acting, cinematography, music, etc). For a movie to be a true one almost every aspect must be terrible, and inversely for a movie to be a true ten almost every aspect must be incredible. I am a movie junkie and I enjoy almost every movie I see. I adjust my ratings to account for this. The method for this is not to subtract from each rating, but rather to ‘sit on’ each review I write for several days before I post it. There is no set length for my reviews. I will naturally have different amounts to say for each movie. There is an effective length cap due to the spoiler free requirement and not wanting to delve into a straight-up analysis of a movie. For longer essays and analysis’s, see the Essays tab. Some essays expand on things I talk about in a review! Typically I review movies that are new releases. As of now I am a one man team and I’d rather review something new than a movie that has been covered dozens of times. However, you may suggest movies to review in the form below, and I’ll try to get to it!
